Playing
Time
It
is the sole responsibility of the coaches of each team to decide who plays when
and in what position. The coaching staff should be respected for their knowledge
of the game. They will make every effort to provide each and every athlete with
the opportunity to become the best volleyball player she can be.
The challenge for all coaches is to find a balance between the needs of
the individual and that of the team.
Specialization
occurs as players grow older or play in more competitive tournaments.
This specialization can take the form of positions (i.e. setter, middle
hitter, libero, etc.) or area on the court (i.e. back row).
Playing time
is determined based on a player’s strengths, attendance and effort in
practice, recent performance and possible contribution to the team’s chance of
success.
Playing
time will be negatively affected by poor attitude, disciplinary problems, or
missed practices.

Expectations of Players
Just
showing up for practices isn't enough. We need players who are punctual, who are
in the proper frame of mind to work hard, who pay attention to the coaching
staff and cooperate with teammates and coaches.
 |
Commitment: It is vital to be committed to the program. If you work hard in
practices, matches and scrimmages, you are likely to have a successful season.
|
 |
Regular Attendance: We know that not all players can show up to every practice.
Exams and other school activities sometimes must take priority. It's important
that you attend every possible practice and notify your coach as far in advance
as possible when you can't attend.
|
 |
Respect for the rules of the club: This includes the club's and the USAV
Player's Code of Conduct. Rules will be clearly stated, and will be enforced.
When you are representing the Sideout
Volleyball Club, your behavior should be appropriate.
|
 |
Maintaining good grades: It is important that you consider yourself a scholar
and
an
athlete, and strive for your best possible performance in school. |

What
Is Expected from Parents
Deliver
and pick up players on time.
Coaches have to wait for all players to be picked up after practice. Please
remember that coaches may have other commitments after practices. Late arrivals to practice cause disruptions, as well.
 |
Please
assist with transportation of players to out-of-town events. We encourage
parents of the team to work together on any necessary transportation
arrangements.
|
 |
Please
watch your daughter when she competes. Even though she may not let you know, she
will appreciate it if you are there.
|
 |
Attend
team organizational meetings. We have very few meetings, so when we do meet, its important!
It is also a chance for parents, players and coaches to get acquainted
with each other. |
 | Pay
fees on time. If fees are not paid, bills cannot be paid. Your club directors
cannot afford to make up the difference!!
