U18
Coach – Nate Wright
Nate
returns to the Sideout Volleyball coaching staff for the
2009 club season after serving as head coach of the
Sideout U16 team that competed at JO's in 2008. The team
finished 1st at the Region Championship
tournament to earn the Evergreen Region bid to
Nationals. Nate
has coached club volleyball for 12 years for various
clubs in the
Spokane
area.
Nate
was the JV coach for Gonzaga Prep in 2007 with his team
winning the JV league title. Nate coached for G-Prep
for five years as the freshman or junior varsity coach.
Nate
began playing volleyball as a high school student at
Central Valley High School. He played on a boys’
club volleyball team that was coached by Kevin and Barb
Twoig which qualified for Nationals all four years.
In addition to coaching, Nate continues to play
volleyball in the Spokane area.
Nate's
coaching philosphy:
"My
philosophy is to teach skills needed to compete at a
higher level of play. Elevating the girls' physical and
mental skills of the game will enable them to become
better players; not just on the court, but off the court
as well. I feel that it is not just how you play
the game (win or lose), it's how you react to the
outcome. My desire is for the girls to reach their
goals, experience a higher level of competition, and to
have fun during the season. I hope to teach them not
just how to play the game, but how to love it".

U16
Coaches – Kelly Kight / Lacey Anderson
Kelly
returns for his fourth season with the Sideout Volleyball
club. Prior to
coaching for Sideout, Kelly coached the 2004 Mead HGP U18
team and coached various age groups with the Mead Extreme
club. Kelly
was also an assistant coach at Ferris high school and the
varsity coach at Warden High School.
Last
summer, Kelly’s U15 Sideout team placed 7th out of 113
U15 teams at the Volleyball Festival in
Reno
to cap off an extremely successful club season. They
also finished 10th in the U16 division at the
Pacific Northwest Qualifier and were 2nd at the
Evergreen Region tournament in the U16 division.
Kelly is passionate about the sport of volleyball
and helping athletes reach their full potential.
Kelly
is an Assistant Principal at
Ferris
High School
.
Lacey
returns to the Sideout Volleyball coaching staff for the
2009 club season. She
was the head coach of the Sideout U12 team in 2008.
Her team finished in the top 4 at five of the 7
tournaments they competed in last season.
Lacey
graduated from
Mead
High School
in 2005 where she was a two-time State Volleyball champion
as a setter. Lacey was named to the GSL All League
First-Team her senior year.
Lacey played for Splash, Mead HGP and Players
Volleyball Clubs. She also played at
North
Idaho
College
in
Coeur d'Alene
,
Idaho
and worked as the Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach at
Mead
High School
in 2007.

Michelle
Boevers

Coach – Michelle Boevers
Michelle
joins the Sideout Volleyball club as the coach of the U15
team after serving as the assistant coach of the Spokane
Storm U16 team the last two seasons.
Michelle is a standout outside hitter for the
Gonzaga
University
volleyball team and has started every match during the
2008 season.
Michelle
was originally a soccer player and also competed in track.
Her senior year in volleyball she was named the Gatorade
Player of the Year for
Oklahoma
and was the
Oklahoma
State
5A Tournament MVP, leading her team to a state title. She
was All-State as a junior and senior and played on a
highly regarded Oklahoma Elite Club volleyball team. She
selected Gonzaga after also being recruited by the
University
of
Texas
and
University
of
Oklahoma
.
She is currently a redshirt junior after suffering
two different season-ending knee injuries.

FRESHMAN (2005):
Played in 24 matches, 87 games...suffered season-ending
anterior cruciate ligament injury during Oct. 22 match at
Pepperdine...ranked second on team with 296 kills despite
missing final seven matches of the season...had
double-figure kills in 15 of 24 matches...connected for 20
or more kills in four matches with a season-high 25
against UC Davis at the Ruby's Invitational in Missoula,
Mont...had best defensive match with seven digs against
Washington State (9/13)...helped Bulldogs end two long
streaks with 24 kills in win at Washington State (9/24)
and 19 kills in win over No. 25 Saint Mary's (10/15)...win
over Washington State ended 15-year losing streak to the
Cougars...win over Saint Mary's marked first win over a
ranked opponent since the 1993 season...season-high seven
blocks against San Francisco (10/14)...ranked ninth in the
West Coast Conference in kills-per-game with 3.44, ranked
second among WCC freshmen in that category.
SOPHOMORE
(2006):
Suffered anterior cruciate ligament injury during
summer...received medical redshirt.
RS-SOPHOMORE
(2007):
Played and started in all 30 matches, 104 games...was
second on the squad in kills (307) and third in kills per
game (2.95)...15 service aces, 98 digs, 19 solo blocks and
32 block assists...18 double-figure kill games, including
10 of 14 in West Coast Conference action...tallied 18
kills in two matches; versus Bowling Green (9/7) and at
Loyola Marymount University (11/1)...had 17 kills against
Saint Mary's (10/27) and 16 kills at New Mexico (9/8).

Doris
Norris is the Club Director and co-founder of the Sideout
Volleyball Club.
She has coached U12, U13 and U14 teams for Sideout
in addition to her work with NBC Camps Volleyball.
Doris
was a four-year All-Conference volleyball player at
Whitworth
University
on a team that won four consecutive conference titles.
She was inducted into the Whitworth Heritage
Gallery Hall of Fame with her teammates in 2007.
She was a multi-sport high school athlete who
competed at State in 3 sports.
She is passionate about kids and volleyball and
also serves as the Administrative Director of Volleyball
for NBC Camps.

Bethany
Castilleja and Sarah Rusch join the Sideout Volleyball
Club coaching staff for the 2008 season.
They both have college volleyball playing
experience and have worked at various camps.
Sarah
Rusch graduated from
DeSales
High School
in
Walla Walla
.
From there she went to
Walla Walla
Community College
where she was named the team's Most Valuable Player her
sophomore season. She
was also selected as an NWAACC 1st Team All-Conference
selection at middle blocker and was selected to play in
the NWAACC All-Star sophomore game.
Following her sophomore season at WWCC, Sarah
transferred to
Whitworth
University
where she was an all-conference selection in 2007. Sarah
led the Pirates offensively and defensively.
She led the team, and was fourth in the NWC, in
kills per game with an average of 4.18. She also averaged
0.86 blocks, which led Whitworth and ranked sixth in the
conference.
Bethany
Castilleja is the starting libero at
Whitworth
University
where she is currently seventh in the Northwest Conference
with 4.04 digs per set, with a season-best 26 digs against
Montana Western.
Bethany
graduated from
Kamiakin
High School
in
Kennewick
,
Washington
.
She became the starting libero midway through the
2007 season when former Sideout coach Cassie (
Moore
) Hare moved from libero to outside hitter for the
Pirates.

Coach - Taci VanLeuven
Taci
returns to the Sideout Volleyball coaching staff for the
2009 club season as the head coach of the U12 team. Last
year Taci coached the Sideout U13 team that was the
highest placing U13 team at the Evergreen Region
Tournament and finished tied for 3rd at the
Best in the West Tournament. Taci
coached the 2008 season at
Mt.
Spokane
High School
, working primarily with 9th graders.
Taci
played for
Westmont
College
in
Santa Barbara
,
CA
, where her team reached the Elite Eight in the NAIA
National Tournament.
After undergoing shoulder surgery she continued her
education at
Eastern
Washington
University
where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise
Science.
Taci
graduated from
Mt.
Spokane
High School
in 2002 as a three-year varsity volleyball athlete.
She currently is listed in the Mt. Spokane Top Ten
category for career aces, kills, blocks, digs, and holds
the career record for assists.
She was named Honorable Mention All-GSL her
sophomore year and was named to the GSL All League
First-Team her junior and senior years. She also was
named to the All-State team her senior year. Taci
played club volleyball for the Splash Volleyball Club and
has worked at various volleyball camps during her high
school and college volleyball career.

Brynn
and Erica join the Sideout Volleyball Coaching staff for
the 2009 season, working with the U12 Developmental
Program.
Brynn
graduated from
Shadle
High School
where she was a an All-GSL team volleyball player and
track athlete.
She is a sophomore outside hitter for the Community
Colleges of Spokane and also plans to compete for the
Track team in the Spring.
Brynn has worked for NBC Camps the last two
summers, coaching the youngest athletes.
Erica
is a senior at
Mead
High School
where she is member of the varsity volleyball and tennis
teams.
She is a State Champion in volleyball and will
attend Lewis and Clark State College next year where she
will continue her tennis career.
Erica has worked the last 3 years in various
capacities for NBC Volleyball camps, has been a referee
for elementary school volleyball and has helped at Mead
summer volleyball camps.
Both
young ladies played many years of club volleyball and were
teammates on the Sideout/NBC Camps U18 team coached by
Drew and Stacy Wendle.

Doris
Norris - Club
Director/Co-Founder of Sideout Volleyball Club
Doris
serves as the Assistant Volleyball Director for NBC Camps
and has been the Club Director for Sideout Volleyball
since it was formed. Doris and Karen Stebbins are
the co-founders of the Sideout Volleyball Club.
Karen is now serving on the Board of the Evergreen Region
of USA Volleyball.

Experience
Doris
has coached Club Volleyball at the U12, U13 and U14
levels and has also
served as a fill-in coach for a number of other teams at
all age levels.
Playing Experience
Whitworth College
-
Four year
first team all-conference selection and three
time Regional All-star selection at middle hitter. Teams were undefeated in
conference play all four seasons and competed in three successive AIAW Small College
National Volleyball tournaments, placing 5th in the nation her junior year.
Doris and her teammates at Whitworth were inducted into
the Heritage Gallery Hall of Fame in 2007.
Harrington (WA) High School -
All-state basketball player, state track and field champion and three
year volleyball starter. Volleyball
teams qualified for State tournament 3 years.
